Washington Harbor District Alliance
Washington Harbor District Alliance (WHDA) is a non-profit organization focused on economic development in the downtown historic business district located on the water in Washington, NC. WHDA continues to be integral in Washington’s Revitalization and Reinvestment strategy for the Harbor District assisting the City of Washington with projects such as Festival Park, Maritime Center, and cohesive signage including the Wayfinding Project.
Washington is Eastern NC’s foremost destination anchored by its pedestrian-friendly waterfront, historic port, and agricultural roots, Downtown Washington is a trendsetter in style and culture with a vacation atmosphere that is the joy of daily life for those who call Washington home.
The mission of Washington Harbor District Alliance is to serve as a facilitator and catalyst to renew, restore, rebuild, and revitalize the downtown business district, improve economic conditions, encourage tourism, and preserve historical buildings and their significance.
Board of Directors
WHDA’s Board of Directors consists of community volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds who are devoted to helping the Harbor District grow & thrive. Board Meetings are held at 8:30am on the third Wednesday of each month at the Washington Chamber of Commerce Building. The public is invited to attend.

WHDA is a member of the National Main Street Program and is one of North Carolina’s Main Street Communities under the Department of Commerce. Following the Main Street Four Point Approach®, WHDA operates four core committees: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring.
