The Arts of the Pamlico is one the oldest arts councils in the state. Housed at the Historic Turnage Theatre, constructed originally as a vaudeville theater in the early 1900’s and expanded in the early 1940’s, AOP is the hub for community based arts and culture activities and events in Beaufort County.
AOP serves as the largest art gallery in downtown Washington, partnering with and supporting the efforts of four independent galleries.
Each week AOP lights up the city with a host of events from comedy to movies to dinner theatre, offers its facilities for rent and provides arts and culture continuing education opportunities for adults and youth.
